The OEA gives the following awards in the area of Human and Civil rights: Kate Frank Award, Tuskahoma Brown Miller Award, F.D. Moon Award and the Glenn Snider Human Relations Award. Other awards include the OEA Friend of Education, the Claude A. Dyer Memorial Award, the Stan Bryant Political Action Award, the Education Support Personnel Award, Advocate for Academic Freedom Award and the Collective Bargaining Awards and the Anti-Censorship Award. There are two Instructional Excellence in Education Awards. One award is presented for Excellence in the Classroom and the other is for Teachers Teaching Teachers. In the communications area a number of Marshall Gregory Awards are given to student and professional media for quality presentations in the field of education. Communication excellence by local organizations is honored with the Golden Apple Award.
Applications are available October 1st and are due to the OEA by January 31st. The awards will be presented during the annual OEA Delegate Assembly in April.
NEA awards include Friend of Education Award, Human and Civil Rights Awards, Student Teaching Competition and Awards for the Advancement of Learning Through Broadcasting.
The OEA participates with several other groups in the Bicentennial Education Partnership Grants. The grants are used for projects designed to improve and enrich public education. Applications are due May 1st.
