The Cameron/RSU chapter of SOEA was formed in the Fall of 2007. Since that time, the chapter has grown in numbers and has participated in campus service projects as well as providing professional related programs to SOEA members.
Chapter officers include Tamika Sharp, President, Stephanie Cheatwood, Vice President, Kristin Littlefield, Treasurer and Jennie Bickford, Secretary.

In November, CU/RSU SOEA sponsored the Brain Savvy training. Brain Savvy is a manipulative program developed by creativity experts, Kathy Goff and Jamie McCracken. Both Goff and McCracken are teaching professionals with doctorate degrees in learning and education

The chapter, also, participated in a Christmas 2008 Service Project benefiting SafeNet Services Inc, a Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Agency in Claremore, Oklahoma. The chapter distributed flyers asking RSU students to donate clothing, toys and toiletries. At the end of the three week campaign chapter members delivered two refrigerator boxes full of donations for distribution to SafeNet clients.

CU/RSU SOEA members also volunteered to assist with SafeNet’s Festival of Trees on December 4th. Members donated two gingerbread houses for the Gingerbread Village Silent Auction and worked the Reindeer Romp.

Cameron University on the Rogers State University’s campus in Claremore began offering classes in Elementary Education in the fall of 2006. The first graduating class, 2008, consisted of 4 students. The class of 2009 will consist of 8 students. Currently enrolled for the class of 2010 are 14 students. Enrollment continues to grow daily! |
