Oklahoma Election Guide for August 25, 2020

Elections are scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 25, in 50 Oklahoma counties. Fifteen school districts have bonds on the ballot: Berryhill, Bethany, Bethel, Canute, Copan, Dover, Duncan, Fairland, Keystone, Mannsville, Prue, Red Oak, Shawnee, Stratford, and Woodward. Local elections by county are listed below.

Alfalfa County

  • County commissioner, Republican primary runoff.

Atoka County

  • County commissioner, Republican primary.
  • State Senate District 5, Republican primary runoff. 

Beckham County

  • Canute Public Schools, two propositions.

Carter County

  • Mannsville Public School, one proposition. The $365,000 bond will fund security improvements, technology, and other repairs.

Choctaw County

  • State Senate District 5, Republican primary runoff. 

Cleveland County

  • Norman, four city propositions.
  • County sheriff, Republican primary runoff.

Comanche County

  • Lawton, one city council member.

Creek County

  • Keystone Public School, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $645,000 for flooring, HVAC, roofing, remodeling of the baseball field, technology, books, and other projects. Proposition 2 will raise $180,000 for transportation.

Custer County

  • Canute Public Schools, two propositions.
  • County commissioner, Republican primary runoff.

Delaware County

  • County commissioner, Republican primary.
  • County sheriff, Republican primary.

Ellis County 

  • Shattuck, one town proposition. 

Garfield County

  • County sheriff, Republican primary runoff. 

Garvin County

  • Stratford Public Schools, one proposition.  
  • Wynnewood, mayor. 
  • State Senate District 43, Republican primary runoff.

Grady County

  • State Senate District 43, Republican primary runoff. 

Harper County

  • Woodward Public Schools, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $5.6 million for repairs to the middle and high school auditoriums, renovations to the middle school fine arts building, renovations to the home economics space, technology, textbooks, security upgrades, and turf on the football field. 

Haskell County

  • State Senate District 7, Republican primary runoff. 

Hughes County

  • State Senate District 7, Republican primary runoff. 

Jackson County

  • Altus, two city propositions. 

Johnston County

  • Mannsville Public School, one proposition. The $365,000 bond will fund security improvements, technology, and other repairs.

Kingfisher County

Kiowa County

  • Roosevelt, one town proposition. 

Latimer County

  • Red Oak Public Schools, one proposition. The $1 million will fund a new cafeteria that doubles as a safe room, remodeling the current cafeteria into classrooms, renovations to the gym lobby, and renovations to the ag show barn. 
  • County sheriff, Republican primary runoff.
  • State Senate District 7, Republican primary runoff. 

LeFlore County

  • Red Oak Public Schools, one proposition. The $1 million will fund a new cafeteria that doubles as a safe room, remodeling the current cafeteria into classrooms, renovations to the gym lobby, and renovations to the ag show barn.

Lincoln County

  • County commissioner, Republican primary runoff.

  • Stratford Public Schools, one proposition.

McCurtain County

  • State Senate District 5, Republican primary runoff. 

McIntosh County

  • County court clerk, Democrat primary runoff. 

Muskogee County

  • Braggs, one town proposition. 
  • County sheriff, Republican primary runoff.

Nowata County

  • Copan Public Schools, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $750,000 for a new fire alarm, intercom, and security system; a new ag classroom, renovations to the ag barn; technology, upgrades for baseball/softball; and a new outdoor pavilion. Proposition 2 will raise $50,000 for buses. 

Okfuskee County

  • State Senate District 7, Republican primary runoff. 

Oklahoma County

  • Bethany Public Schools, one proposition. The $7.2 million bond will fund a classroom addition with safe rooms, an enclosed connecting corridor between the high school and middle school buildings, and an enclosed hallway at the middle school. 
  • Harrah, one city proposition. 
  • County sheriff, Republican primary runoff. 
  • State House District 96, Republican primary runoff. 
  • State Senate District 17, Republican primary runoff. 
  • U.S. Congress District 5, Republican primary runoff.

Okmulgee County

  • Dewar, one town proposition. 
  • County commissioner, Democrat primary runoff. 

Osage County

  • Prue Public Schools, one proposition. The $270,000 bond will pay for transportation. 
  • Bartlesville, five city propositions. 
  • Shidler, one city proposition. 
  • Tulsa, mayor, one city council member, and five city charter amendment propositions. 

Ottawa County

  • Fairland Public Schools, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $3.1 million for an elementary school storm shelter, roof and HVAC replacement at the high school, a new elementary school PE floor, and other projects. Proposition 2 will raise $200,000 for transportation.

Pawnee County

  • Keystone Public School, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $645,000 for flooring, HVAC, roofing, remodeling of the baseball field, technology, books, and other projects. 
  • Cleveland, one city proposition.
  • County commissioner, Republican primary runoff. 

Payne County

  • County sheriff, Republican primary runoff.

Pittsburg County

  • State Senate District 7, Republican primary runoff. 

Pontotoc County

  • Stratford Public Schools, one proposition. 

Pottawatomie County

  • Bethel Public Schools, one proposition. The $18.4 million bond will fund a new upper elementary building, a new multipurpose building, upgrades to the gym, and parking lot repairs. 
  • Shawnee Public Schools, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $16.9 million for technology, infrastructure, parking, safety, HVAC and roof upgrades throughout the district, band uniforms, turf at the stadium, new tennis courts, ag program ungraded, and other projects. Proposition 2 will raise $1.2 million for transportation.  
  • Tecumseh, four city council members. 
  • State Senate District 17, Republican primary runoff. 
  • U.S. Congress District 5, Republican primary runoff.

Pushmataha County

  • One county question. 
  • State Senate District 5, Republican primary runoff. 

Rogers County

  • Tulsa, mayor, one city council member, and five city charter amendment propositions. 

Seminole County

  • U.S. Congress District 5, Republican primary runoff.

Stephens County

  • Duncan Public Schools, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $25.8 million for roofing, books, technology, building security, safe rooms at the high school, upgrades at the stadium, repairs to the transportation facility, high school auditorium upgrades, playground equipment, parking, and other projects. Proposition 2 will raise $2 million for transportation. 
  • Velma, one town board of trustees member.
  • State House District 43, Republican primary runoff.

Texas County

  • County commissioner, Republican primary runoff. 

Tulsa County

  • Berryhill Public Schools, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $20.3 million for safe rooms; technology; textbooks; a locker room; band instruments; remodeling the admin building; resurfacing the track; overhauling the baseball and softball complex; upgrades to the football field; improvements to the high school and field house; remodeling of the high school cafeteria, wrestling room, audiotorium, and other projects. Proposition 2 will raise $525,000 for transportation. 
  • Keystone Public School, two propositions. Proposition 1 will raise $645,000 for flooring, HVAC, roofing, remodeling of the baseball field, technology, books, and other projects. Proposition 2 will raise $180,000 for transportation. 
  • Glenpool, one city proposition. 
  • Jenks, one city proposition.
  • Tulsa, mayor, seven city council members, and five city charter amendment propositions. 
  • State Senate District 35, Republican primary runoff.
  • State House District 71, Republican primary runoff.
  • State House District 79, Republican primary runoff.

Wagoner County

  • Coweta, one city proposition.
  • Tulsa, mayor, one city council member, and five city charter amendment propositions. 

Washington County
