Membership Recruitment and Local Association Organizing Plans
Membership recruitment and retention is a vital function for local associations. In this section you will find resources for membership recruitment, including local organizing plans, an FAQ and downloadable materials.
Training for Local Treasurers
Protecting and tracking the finances of a local OEA chapter are vital to the health of the association. This document will help local treasurers understand their responsibilities and the requirements of the position. This training helps meet New Business Item #6 from the 2016 Delegate Assembly. For more information, contact a member of your Regional OEA team. Open/download the PDF. If you’d like to receive a copy of this training in the form of a PowerPoint, email Doug Folks at email@example.com.
Now That I’m an AR, What Do I Do?
You’ve agreed to be the point person for the local association in your building, so now what? Association Reps (ARs) – aka Building Reps or Delegates – are the local association’s first line of communication. They sometimes help other members who are facing difficult issues, take suggestions and information from the building to the local officers, serve as a sounding board for the local executive board, and other duties as they arise. In this webinar, which runs less than 10 minutes, OEA Advocacy UniServ Specialists Martha Wissler and Cal Ware walk you through tasks and responsibilities of an AR. Spoiler Alert: You can do this. Watch the webinar.
Local Association Research
Bargaining locals will find plenty of resources inside, including salary and extra duty comparisons, negotiated agreements from around the state dating back to 2001, and Greenbooks since 2016, which contain financial information on every school district in the state.
